Kdenlive 0.9.6 released

We are happy to announce the immediate release of Kdenlive 0.9.6.

This version fixes several bugs and crashes, including a very annoying bug that caused project files to seem corrupted. All users are strongly encouraged to upgrade.

You will find detailled infos about the changes in this release on our Kdenlive 0.9.6 info page.

The source code can be downloaded from the KDE servers, there are 2 available tarballs, since we decided to also distribute Kdenlive with its user manual:

Packages for your distributions should hopefully be available soon.
It is recommended to use the latest version of the MLT framework (0.8.8) to get the recent bugfixes and improvements.

As usual, a big thank you to all those who helped us make this release better by giving us feedback and investigating the bugs they found.
You can check the Kdenlive online manual and forums for documentation and help.

For the Kdenlive team,

Jean-Baptiste Mardelle

Congratulation to the new release and finally reverse clip option! YaY!

Amazing piece of work, congrats & thanks ever so much :-)

What version of mlt are we recommending to use with 0.9.6 ? Because I know that at least one of the 0.9.6 kdenlive fixes (issue #2955 Stabilize transcode - maxangle parameter - crazy max value allowed) also relies on some mlt changes to work.
The MLT patch that j-b-m mentiond on http://kdenlive.org/mantis/view.php?id=2955 apparently went into MLT's git repository on 31st of march 2013. But current version of MLT is 0.8.8 from 2013-01-21 so this will not have this change.

Should we convince Dan Dennedy to release a 0.8.9 of mlt for us?

Very interesting... I've encountered almost all of those fixed bugs, so it's gonna be a relief to use 0.9.6.
And THANKS for the reverse clip feature, that's something I've been litterally begging for.

BTW, here is my latest production edited with Kdenlive : http://flomoto.no-ip.org/flotube/index.php?p=1&v=22

Did'nt try yet this new one, but i feel that with all the bug catched (+/- 60) vs improvement (+/- 2) you must have done o great work in order to improve the global stability ...

And it's great for kdenlive as video editors users 'wants' to have a robust tool to spend hours and days and weeks and ... on it, and also you take the time to give a nice 'candy' to the users with the reverse clip plugin...

all my congrat's jb, kdenlive and mlt team !

(will try to find a bug someday's :-)
