Kdenlive Crashes when the "Render" button is clicked

I am running Kdenlive 0.9.2 on Ubuntu 12.10

I have had Kdenlive install for a few months and it has worked beautifully until today. After adding some final touches to a project, I went to render and when I clicked the "Render" button, Kdenlive just closes. I relaunched the program and clicked "Render" and the same thing happened. I restarted my laptop and that didn't help. I made sure is something in the project by just opening Kdenlive and trying to render a blank project. I uninstalled and reinstalled Kdenlive and that didn't help either. I have been able to render in the past but now...nothing.

Here is the output from the terminal as the program is lauched to when the Render button is clicked...

$ kdenlive

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Forums:

After a bit of Googling, I have found that this is a know issue. However, there is a workaround...

Please note that Kdenlive 0.9.4 that is available from sunab's repository fixes this issue and contains a lot of other improvments, so I would strongly recommand that you upgrade.
Sunab's repository is here:

After updating both my ffmpeg, and kdenlive respectfully to their latest incarnations, it still crashes for me when I press render. This wasnt happening initially in 9.2, however, it somehow came to be unavoidable.

The crash handler displays the following:
"Executable: kdenlive PID: 19873 Signal: Floating point exception (8)"

And my terminal session ends as follows:
QWidget::insertAction: Attempt to insert null action
QWidget::insertAction: Attempt to insert null action
Registered event listener change listener: true
KCrash: Application 'kdenlive' crashing...
KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/drkonqi from kdeinit
sock_file=/home/akiva-tablet/.kde/socket-ubuntu/kdeinit4__0

[1]+ Stopped kdenlive

I am using ubuntu 12.10. Any suggestions would be helpful. My kind regards to the developers of this application by the way; it is by far the best NLE on Linux, especially regarding the design and layout.

Akiva, did you update melt as well?

I updated everything.

I ended up unistalling, and attempted to install from source. I had spent hours trying to figure out what was wrong, as to why I was having issues installing from source, when I realized that I had qt5 installed because of the interest in developing the upcoming ubuntu phone. After uninstalling that, I reinstalled kdenlive from the repos, version .4, and I was again able to press the render button.

To my dissatisfaction however, after rebooting my machine and coming back to it, it appears that the render button is again crashing my system.

I will keep you updated.

This is my terminal:

Doesnt tell me much.

I've got the same problem.

It was working for years in Ubuntu 12.04 until some updates taking place few days ago.
I tried reinstall kdenlive, melt but I can't get rid of this.

Could you help me please ?
