Kdenlive 0.7.6 released

We are glad to announce the release of Kdenlive 0.7.6, 3 months after the 0.7.5 version.

Many crashes related to effects, transitions, and timeline corruption issues were fixed, and the latest MLT version (0.4.6) that is used for this Kdenlive release also provides an improved stability, so we encourage all our users to upgrade.

The list of fixed issues can be found on our bugtracker: http://www.kdenlive.org/mantis/changelog_page.php?version_id=11

The new features are:

  • Title module: rewrite, now allows for basic animation (title zoom & scroll)
  • Track rename: users can now rename tracks
  • Composite transition: keyframes can now be moved
  • Clip management: image and audio clips are automatically monitored and updated in the timeline whenever they change on disk
  • User interface cleanup: cleaner look for timeline
  • Capture monitor improvements: now shows available disk space & timecode, also allows to choose a name for captured files
  • Project management: project settings dialog now allows you to clear the thumbnails cache and delete all videoclips that are not used in the project
  • Improved clip markers: they are now displayed in the clip monitor ruler, and user can easily go to each marker from the context menu
  • Shutdown computer after rendering
  • Mac OS X support (Dan Dennedy)

As usual, you can download the Kdenlive sources from our sourceforge page (see compilation instructions), updated packages for your distros should be available in a few days.

We hope you will enjoy this new release and continue to give us feedback in the forums and bugtracker so that we can improve Kdenlive.

A big thank you to all that made this release possible. Keep them coming.
If one of you ever happens to come around this part of the world (Berlin) and wants/needs someone to pay a beer or two, who you gonna call? Ghostb- - no wait - ME!

I found 0.7.6 on a fluke... Very stable!!! MUCH better than 0.7.5 thanks for the quick fix! works good on 2.6.26 and 2.6.30 kernels (Debian Squeeze upgraded from Debian etch.)

You are very right digitalRazor, the new 0.7.6 version is much more stable and i think that it solved those bugs that won't let you import without crashing the program. ParilotoRezultate LiveClasamente Fotbal

You can download (or play with FireFox 3.5+) the original Ogg Theora of the screen recording:

Or see it on YouTube:

Is it an app bundle?

Looks good!

Thank you for the upgrade, it is always much appreciated :)

Awesome! You guys are doing a great job with Kdenlive. It is my favourite Kde program by far.

Thanks again...

I have confirmed that with 0.7.6, rendering *.OGV created by RecordMyDesktop does not crash.
This is great for me to create tutorial movies. Many thanks for your wonderful activity.

... Sorry, today's trial shows it looks still having problem. Will wait for next release.

I love this project.. I've been using it for some time. This is the only promising FLOSS NLVE outside of Blender. The difference being that KDENLive is much easier to use of course.

Composite transition seems to be broken in the Ubuntu build. I don't know if it's an actual bug or not, but that is a must feature, for keyframing pan and zoom.

I finished my first project without a single crash though.. and that aint bad.

Still using Blenders sequencer for anything hard core, but waiting for this to get better.
