Hello,
My camera produces DV/DVD PAL 720 x 576 4:3. The 16:9 format is stored anamorph (also 720 x 576 pixels). Kdenlive (and other programms too) don't recognice, that it should be 16:9 and displöays it as 4:3. A switch to enforce 16:9 would be very, very helpful (like VLC).
Or is there for the moment a work around?

What project profile did you select?
You should use "DV/DVD Widescreen PAL"

First, capture in raw DV; some versions of MLT have problems detecting aspect of DV in AVI files.
Yes, you can override the aspect ratio in the clip properties dialog, advanced section. You need to set the pixel aspect ratio, not the display aspect.
