|Summary||0000219: does not play vorbis audio in ogg files|
|Description||i add ogg / ogv video clips to the project and when i double-click them|
to see the properties i see 2 audio channels in vorbis audio codec format
but i am unable to hear them or to see their audio thumbnails on the timeline tracks.
video plays fine.
i got those kind of files from a screen capture application called recordMyDesktop
and i also tested several files i found on my system that i know they are good Ogg files. none of them loads correctly into kdenlive although they are played and visually viewed by other applications (kmplayer,amarok...)
playing them in mplayer (cli) i get this output:
Ogg stream 0 is of an unknown type
[Ogg] stream 1: video (Theora v3.2.1), -vid 0
[Ogg] stream 2: audio (Vorbis), -aid 0
Ogg file format detected.
Opening audio decoder: [ffmpeg] FFmpeg/libavcodec audio decoders
AUDIO: 44100 Hz, 2 ch, s16le, 256.0 kbit/18.14% (ratio: 32000->176400)
Selected audio codec: [ffvorbis] afm: ffmpeg (FFmpeg Vorbis decoder)
AO: [alsa] 48000Hz 2ch s16le (2 bytes per sample)

I can confirm there is an issue.
First: I am building with my wizard, and it has an error, where it does not pass --enable-libvorbis to ffmpeg configure, but only --enable-libtheora. I will release a new version with a fix for this, shortly. Interesstingly, this does not seem to matter, as ffplay will load a system wide lib with support for ogg anyway. However, it needs to go there, I reckon.
Second: My freshly compiled ffplay (configured with --enable-libvorbis) does play a local ogg file. However, the inigo command line program does _not_ play this ogg file. It opens a video window, but no sound occurs. Playing e.g. wav/mp3 works fine.
I have therefore changed this to an MLT issue: inigo does not play ogg files for me, and I reckon Kdenlive wont be able to play ogg files until inigo does?
I have posted a question about it to the MLT list too.
|Dan Dennedy has been able to reproduce this issue in MLT, and will look into it. I believe that when the issue has been resolved in MLT, it will also be resolved for kdenlive.|
This has been fixed in MLT rev 1188 - update your MLT installation, and you should be fine.
If you have trouble building/obtaining the KDE4/qt4 version of Kdenlive, please consult http://www.kdenlive.org/compile [^]
You may especially be interessted in the Kdenlive Builder Wizard, available at http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=85826 [^] .
Note, that you do not need to run KDE4 to build and run the Kdenlive KDE4 version.
The wizard also builds ffmpeg, mlt and mlt++ to the newest revisions.
