|Summary||0003057: Simplifying playback of clips & subclips -> SPACE & CTRL+SPACE -> IN/OUT points & Description Field|
|Description||I like to create subclips from source clips for various reasons and drag them to the Project Tree but find a few things which I feel could be improve workflow.|
To clarify I understand the three keyboard short cuts related to playback, SPACE (Play), CTRL+SPACE (Play Zone) & ALT+SPACE (Loop Zone).
1. Default In/Out Zones appear to be set for all source clips imported, if I haven't set in/out's none should really exist, it becomes a little annoying in relation to point 2 below.
2. When creating sub clips in the Project Tree selecting a subclip and pressing SPACE plays the whole 'Source' clip, it's not restricted to the extents of the subclip.
As I've selected the subclip then that is what I wish to play. It becomes a little tedious when I have a Project Tree with many source clips, many with subclips, many with multiple subclips to keep swapping between SPACE, CTRL+SPACE etc, I've already signaled to kdenlive what I wish to play by having to first select either the source clip or subclip.
I understand there is a further sub option to either play the zone once or loop, but one level of keyboard gymnastics could be removed for subclips, if a subclip is highlighted play only the subclip with SPACE, if loop is required then ALT+SPACE. personally I'd prefer the default play of a subclip to be loop and keep CTRL+SPACE to play once as an option.
3. The Description field is very useful but if I add text descriptions to subclips and not the source clip then nothing appears in the Description box when the source clip -> sub clip tree is collapsed. Yes I should really get into the habit of first adding a description to the source clip maybe but it's the subclips I'm going to be using.
If it were possible to add a drop down menu to the Description field of a Source clip when collapsed comprising of a list of the sub clip descriptions then selection of a subclip could also be done by choice of description from a collapsed source clip tree.
Hope this all makes sense. :-)
