source compile error (lame): mlt build scripts method

I've been stumbling along getting kdenlive to successfully render (multiple tries) until recently. I'm trying to use the buildscripts method to compile from source to work around the failure to render issue. I've encountered several errors and am stuck at lame. Help pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated. I apologize for the long code post below, I decided to err on the side of being thorough in the hopes that it would be helpful to someone who knows more about lame compiling than I do.

Configuration and Command History

Ubuntu Lucid.
I used the list of packages at http://www.mltframework.org/twiki/bin/view/MLT/BuildScripts except replaced git with git-core.
My system only had yasm 0.8 so I installed yasm-1, and then used a symbolic link to point yasm to the updated file which got me past the code complaining about yasm for H264 compilation.

sudo mv /usr/bin/yasm /usr/bin/yasm0.8
sudo ln -s /usr/bin/yasm-1 /usr/bin/yasm

Complete and total n00b!! Need walkthrough.

I've had my computer for about a year and I love it to death, but even though I have openSUSE installed, I have no knowledge of the system itself. I built the computer with the help of a very knowledgeable friend and he kindly introduced me to Linux. Like I said, I love it, but I know nothing about code. I can navigate and use a computer fairly well but I am not learned on anything else.

buildscript binary doesn't find pixmaps

Greetings,

I use the build script to compile Kdenlive successfully on three systems. Only one of them - AVLinux (Debian Squeeze) - displays the pixmaps correctly. My Ubuntu 10.04 and Arch 64 differ in their failure - the Ubuntu build displays some of the pixmaps, e.g. New, Open, Save, but not those for the Add Clip and other entries in the Clip box's pop-up menu. The Arch build fails to find any Kdenlive pixmaps.

There must be a simple solution, I just haven't figured it out yet. Can anyone nudge me in the right direction ?

TIA,

(SOLVED) Build script fails on frei0r plugins

Hi,

I'm experimenting with the build script on AV Linux/Debian Squeeze 32bit, If I disable frei0r in the script the build succeeds however with frei0r enabled the script fails with this:

(SOLVED) MLT 0.8.0 fails to see QT4 qimage build libs when present.

Hi,

This is a copy and paste from an email I sent to the mlt-devel mailing list that for some curious reason got bounced back to me although I have sent messages to the mlt-devel mailing list previously...

Hi,

I'm trying to build and package MLT 0.8.0 for AV Linux (based on Debian
Squeeze with QT4 4.6.3) however it seems to not recognize the qt4 libs for qimage being
present on the system even when the locations are explicitly indicated in
the configure command. MLT 0.7.8 on the same system configures and finds
the correct qt4 qimage dependencies and builds successfully.

Any help or advice is appreciated, I am trying to finish up the release of
AV Linux 6.0 and am being bitten by the 'render crashes when finished' bug
with the current MLT 0.7.8 and Kdenlive 0.9.2

Sincere thanks, Glen MacArthur - AV Linux Maintainer

Here is the terminal output from the configure stage, the resulting
compilation also fails:
