Topics and tips about the output of video from a Kdenlive project

Rendering is not working

I am using kdenlive since one month and I am facing a strange problem when rendering my video.
Sometimes the rendering operation seems to end correctly but the generated file is broken or sometimes the computer crashed before the end.

Crashing when render webm

It takes a lot of time to render to webm and eventually crashes, even if the projects has no effects just some clips to put together. I have a core i7 4.5ghz 8cpus, 8gb ddr3, ATI 1gb.

My cpu gets overheated and the pc freeze. I suspect the video-card is as well since the monitor shuts down lie losing signal many times.

It only happens when it takes a lot of time to render a file (20-30 min and over).

Thing is I need webm since has the best quality at a very low file size.

I changed the threads from 1 to 8 and still the same problem.

Held Frames at end of clip (mp4) & slideshow looping

Hello all,

When import an mp4 clip and drop it into the timeline and render it out with a lossless format (only ones I have tested) the last 5-7 frames seem to be held/duplicated.

I am importing a an HD slideshow clip (animation) by filename pattern of 300 frames with the frame number in the center of the image (another issue is with the slideshow clip, it seems to loop at the end and put the first frame at the end, so I always have to trim it off). When I render this file out as FFV1, mpeg-2, mpeg-4, or h264, I overlay the frame number just to double confirm (it starts at 0 whereas my frames start at 1). All the files play fine in VLC, although the mpg and h264 version have trouble displaying the last several frames.

Rendering cancels

I'm trying to render a new video but I'm having some issues. I'm including titles in a video and rendering seems to be ok, but it lasts too short time, and when trying to play the video in mpg I can see only part of the video (rendering does not reach the end). I tried to render in melt via command line, and it finishes with the following error:
WARNING: QApplication was not created in the main() thread.
/usr/bin/melt: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/ undefined symbol: g_module_open

I think this is the problem, but previews are ok.

Audio sync drift, video laggs

I need help on this one. First how to test/debug where in the render chain this my error may be: kdenlive, melt, ffmpeg...?

My issue: a simple kdenlive project consisting of 1(or3) 'standard' 720x480mpeg2 video(s), wav 'master' audio (44100Hz), and a few image panel/inserts. The mpeg audio is muted and wav is synced to mpeg vid. So in kdenlive the wav is fully synced to the vid (monitor) for the whole project.
When rendered to NTSC DVD, the video begins to lagg the audio 1-2 sec after 30m. This is the same for FFV1 lossless, and most others I have tried. I did hit on one file render Xvid4{acodec=libmp3lame ab=128k ar=44100 vcodec=libxvid minrate=0 vb=8000k aspect=@16/9 mbd=2 trellis=1 mv4=1 pass=1 threads=4 real_time=-1} that seemed to worked, the audio and video stayed in sync, but had some strong interlacing effects.

**Update: render to libdv seems to work, without this issue of sync drift, only tested on small 15m junk, file is big!

Issue of rendering (mp4/AAC)

I 'm using Kdenlive 0.9.6 on Debian wheezy 64 bits.

When I run a rendering whith mp4/AAC or mp4/mp3 an issue appear :

Imported project with proxies gets rendered from its proxy files

Has any one mentioned this before? That when you import a saved project to a new project, and that project is saved with proxies, the rendered new project uses the proxy files from imported proj. not the true files.

That means we have to turn off proxies before saving the proj we want to import.

Is this helpful behaviour? I'd say that no one would actually want the proxy files to be used EVER in their rendered film.

well, perhaps it's talked about already, I didn't see it though. :s

How Increase Speed with ffmbc and a little trick! :)

First, sorry from my English. I'm Catalan !!*!! :)

My battle for rendering best with less time. This is for make a DVD with DEVEDE later... :)

1. First, install "ffmbc"

for linux:

sudo make install

2. Second, convert MTS file to an ULTRA QUALITY MP4:

ffmbc -i input.mts -vcodec copy -acodec aac -ab 512k -strict experimental output.mp4

RGBA rendering

Hi !

I saw a .mov file that had an alpha layer (It was edited with After effects. Video Codec : Run-length encoding / FFQTRLE).
It was working well in the Kdenlive's time line with composite transition.
Is there a way to exporte a movie with a RGBA type of file with KDEnLive ?
It should be realy great for simplify composite work !

Thank You

Moved audio after rendering

I add movie to project, next cut the movie to e.g. 8 parts, delete some of parts and move rest of parts to 'together'.
On preview i have good movie with sound, but after rendering project to movie the sound of each parts are moved ( more or less 1 second to early ). Only sound from first part is ok.
I try extract sound to wave, next add it as wave, mute original sound in movie, and cut move and wave in the same places -> the same efects.
Only i have this problem?
