We are trying to update the Kdenlive application icon (currently, it is the logo of this web site on top left).
The new icons are presented below, please vote for your favorite one and help us decide the new look of Kdenlive!

the most voted one is going to be selected and released when kdenlive 0.7.4 will be out (tomorrow)

Voted for N°2. I think this is the one where the film strip is more visible. I remember when I first try Kdenlive, It took me a while to understand the logo...(sorry).
Although I would make the scotch less wide...

Kdenlive is a video editor for making movies not films, the process is digital from start to finish, so why film strip?
None strike me as being suitable. Sorry no vote from me. :-(
Regarding the clapboard logo fuss, Totem uses the clapboard logo, so does ubuntu menu, no one has the ownership of the clapboard logo really, I think it's a non issue but there again clapboard is just as cliched as film strip. It's sad. :-(

I won't vote for any of these three as they don't strike as much better than the current logo.
They're not very readable in smaller size and they all feel quite dated and already passed in best before date.
If the choice for a new icon stands between these three I vote for keeping the old one.
I think we need some more ideas here. These logos are all variants on the same concept.
Why not start a competition to get suggestions? Lumiera had one and they got a lot of great suggestions for a logo. (The page seems to be unavailable right now).

I like them all .. though I voted for the N.3 (a less old fashion representation of the film strip so to speak..)
But I really think having a complete new logo concept would be far better (not sure..)
anyway.. I guess that getting rid of a the film strip would be good if thinking on Kdenlive as a tool for digital video compositing.. something more modern (more digital I guess..)
In general, the idea of having a new logo is quite good but.. I wonder if Kdenlive should not first evolve a lot as a software in order to be more clear about the potential and the features ..?? I really hope it could become a solid option and versatile enough for doing some compositing and video effects.. (sort of After Effects..)
I have been trying Jahshaka but interface is awful and the project seems to be almost dead (?) (jahshaka.org)

In a discussion on the developer's mailing list it has been decided to a revision of the old logo to stay in line whit it. There where other suggestion and even a ready-to-use really good clapboard icon that was not accepted because of some issues. So it is a chosen and discussed path to stay with a remake of the old icon.
